Going-to-the-Sun Road opens for season

The opening of the famed Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park has been a challenging process due to a snowy winter, late-spring storms and avalanche activity. But on July 2, the entire road – which celebrated its 75th anniversary in June – finally opened for visitors. “Our road crews have been working extremely hard to open the Sun Road this spring,” says Chas Cartwright, Glacier’s new superintendent. “Plowing in avalanche terrain is no easy task.” Read more • (1) Comments
