“Bus Stop” launches WTC’s 30th season
Directed by Artistic Director Nancy Nei, “Bus Stop” is a bittersweet comedy made popular by a long run on Broadway and the movie version starring Marilyn Monroe and Don Murray. Inge was one of the most critically acknowledged and commercially successful playwrights of the 1950s with his plays “Come Back Little Sheba,” Pulitzer Prize-winner “Picnic” and “Bus Stop.”

IOA stages frothy Viennese opera, “Die Fledermaus”
Intermountain Opera Association stages “Die Fledermaus,” the frothy Viennese confection by Johann Strauss, Oct. 10 and 12 at Willson Auditorium in Bozeman. With a comic plot that culminates in a lavish masquerade ball featuring the joyous, infectious music of The Waltz King, the operetta "seemed like a wonderful way to celebrate thirty years of outstanding opera in Bozeman,” says Linda Curtis, the IOA’s artistic director. Two Montana theaters offer Met broadcasts
The Met’s groundbreaking series of live, high-definition performance transmissions to movie theaters around the world expands in its third season. The HD productions will be seen in almost 800 venues, including Gallatin Mall Cinema 11, at 2825 W. Main Street in Bozeman, and Cinemark Great Northern 8, at 750 Great Northern Blvd. in Helena. The Clintons chosen as New Musician winner
A panel of judges selected The Clintons, a Bozeman-based band, as this year’s winner of Gibson Acoustic Guitar’s New Musician Award. The band performs at 8 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Emerson during the HATCHfest. Many Montanans have heard this energetic quartet, whose music pairs sensitive songwriting with funky quirkiness, and a vibe that fans say reminds them of OAR or the Barenaked Ladies. Read more
Glacier Symphony scores a success with Festival Amadeus
This summer, the Glacier Symphony and Chorale took a leap of faith and created a weeklong musical event called Festival Amadeus, held Aug. 4-9 in Whitefish. It was a risky step for the 25-year-old music organization, especially with the country in the midst of an economic downturn and the tourism industry compromised by elevated gas prices. Read more
Two Montana bands to appear on Late Show
Tim Montana, a country singer from Butte, will sing a tribute to his hometown, titled “Butte, Montana,” on Oct. 17; and Cold Hard Cash, a Johnny Cash tribute band from Great Falls, take the Late Show with David Letterman stage Nov. 18. Read more • (1) Comments
