The Crested Hens | Unplucked

The Hamilton-based Crested Hens’ second CD with the clever title is a conglomeration of Canadian violinist Valerie Sim’s instrumentals, written from 2006-’08. The band takes its name from an old Irish tune, and although the instrumental makeup is Irish, it’s not quite fiddle music. Applications available Feb. 14-28 for STOKR bike ride

Applications are available online Feb. 14-28 for the popular Scenic Tour of the Kootenai River (STOKR) bike ride, slated for May 9-10 near Libby. A lottery drawing, held March 9, determines who gets to go on this year’s ride. The 16th annual event raises money to build Habitat for Humanity homes for those in need in Libby. Read more

Grant helps finish Kalispell to Kila bike trail

The Recreational Trails Program of the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has awarded Rails to Trails of Northwest Montana $181,000 to complete the popular trail connecting Kila to Kalispell. The grant will enable the group to complete construction of a paved trail between the two towns, following the route of the historic Great Northern Railway.
