Billings artist Ben Steele at center of new book, Tears in the Darkness
In their new book, Tears In The Darkness: The Story of the Bataan Death March and Its Aftermath, Michael and Elizabeth M. Norman skillfully report on the ordeals of prisoners of war, who suffered 41 months of captivity during World War II. Their protagonist, Ben Steele, is a figure out of Hemingway: a young cowboy-turned-sketch-artist from Montana who joined the army to see the world. Read more

Montana Repertory Theatre’s Educational Outreach Tour is bringing “ThePoeProject” to 46 Montana communities this fall. Told in under 50 minutes, the play takes a fascinating look into Edgar Allan Poe’s macabre world as he struggles to invent the detective story, inviting the audience to join the writer at his desk as he visits with his own poetic and frightening muses. Asleep at the Wheel swings through Great Falls and Billings
The annual Harvest Howl, a fundraiser for Camp Rotary, features Asleep At The Wheel, Nov. 7 at ExpoPark’s Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls. The Grammy-winning "Kings of Texas Swing" also perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Babcock Theater in Billings. Their recent album, a collaboration with Willie Nelson titled Willie and the Wheel, was lauded as “one of the first great albums of 2009” by the Washington Post. Read more
