Country and rock stars headline Montana State Fair

Fair fanatics rejoice! Fair days are back with a week packed full of family fun, July 30-Aug. 7 Montana ExpoPark in Great Falls.  

In addition to the rides, exhibits and midway action, five exciting nights of PRCA Rodeo action are scheduled for Aug. 3-7, with a rodeo dance featuring Keith Anderson on Aug. 6.

Darius Rucker kicks off a stellar night-show line-up at 8 p.m. July 31; Rucker burst on to the country music scene in the fall of 2008 with a no. 1 debut album on the Billboard charts; however, he’s no newcomer to the music scene. Rucker was the voice of Hootie and The Blowfish, the Grammy-winning group of the mid-90s ($35).

The U.S. Marine Band offers a free concert at 8 p.m. Aug. 1; Styx rocks the arena at 8 p.m. Aug. 2, with soaring power ballads and classic rock hits, including “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man” and “Mr. Roboto” ($30 for premium seats);… Read more

Opera House Theatre celebrates 10th season

Built in 1891, the Philipsburg Opera House is recognized as the oldest continually operating theatre in Montana. “Angelic voices”: Celtic Woman comes to Bozeman and Missoula

Celtic Woman offers two Montana concerts this summer, performing Aug. 22 at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman (a show originally slated for MetraPark in Billings, which was destroyed by a tornado in June) and Aug. 23 at the Adams Center in Missoula. Richard Hugo’s poems focus of new book and One Book Montana selection

This year's One Book Montana selection is Richard Hugo’s Selected Poems, featuring works from the fabled Missoula poet’s first six collections. World Cup Equestrian Triathlon returns to Rebecca Farm July 22-25

The world’s best horses and riders will compete in The Event at Rebecca Farm July 22-25, with free admission for spectators to the largest equestrian triathlon in the U.S. and one of only 12 stops on the World Cup tour.
