
Archie Bray anniversary raises nearly $600,000
The Archie Bray’s 60th anniversary celebration, “2011: From the Center to the Edge – 60 Years of Creativity and Innovation at the Archie Bray Foundation,” was an unprecedented success for the Helena ceramic arts center. The event, held June 23-25 in Helena, generated nearly $600,000, with the auction, held June 24 at the Helena Civic Center, grossing more than $500,000. Read more

Billings Artwalk: 22 galleries host receptions

As part of the Archie Bray Foundation's 60th anniversary celebration, Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls hosts “No Place Like Home” by Missoula artist Shalene Valenzuela. The exhibit, on display through Sept. 10, provides viewers with a wonderfully wry and sometimes ironic look at domestic life. Read more

John Ashley | “Curious by Nature”
Photographer John Ashley's images are on display Aug. 4-30 at Stumptown Art Studio in Whitefish in "Curious by Nature." Ashley, who lives “at end of the road” near Kila, with his wife and business partner, Tracy, first used a camera to help him finance his college education. More than three decades later, photography is still central to his livelihood.

People’s Center showcases photographs by Susan Reynolds
A vibrant new exhibit, “Understanding Native American People” by Susan Reynolds, is on display through Sept. 30 at The People’s Center in Pablo. Works by Missoula artist Marvie Redmond, on display through May 29 at the Missoula Art Museum, explore the skyscapes unique to our area.
