Four bands rock the Great Falls Civic Center
Opiate for the Masses, Drowning Pool, Nonpoint and 12 Stones rattle the rafters at the Great Falls Civic Center at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 during Rock the House, sponsored by Club BigHouse.... Dallas-based heavy metal band Drowning Pool has performed at Wrestlemania and Ozzfest. They also collaborated with the non-profit organization Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and 15 year-old YouTube video producer Lizzie Palmer to encourage young people to support expanded health care for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan in a campaign called “This Is For the Soldiers.” Read more
Experience the classics at Festival Amadeus
Fourteen world-class musicians and two string quartets perform some of the finest classical music of Mozart, Brahms, Hayden, Schubert, Debussy and others in Whitefish Aug. 4-9 during Festival Amadeus, presented by the Glacier Symphony and Chorale. Heart of the Bitterroot, Voices of Salish and Pend d‘Oreille Women
Woven among these Salish stories are traditional songs sung by Bev Swaney, Vi Trahan, Clara Charlo and the Nkwusm Singers and original compositions performed by Gary Stroutsos on flutes and ceramic wind whistles, David Lanz on piano and keyboards, Swil Kanim on violin, and Gary Lanz, assorted percussion.… Our voices, our stories, our hearts, our great-great-grandmothers survived droughts, famine, attacks, disease, colonization, broken treaties, relocation, and we are still here.
