Joe Diffie, Kentucky Headhunters take Main Stage at Headwaters Country Jam
The raucous Kentucky Headhunters headline Friday's show. Joe Diffie, the power hit-maker who dominated the country scene in the 1990s, joins the line-up Headwaters Country Jam, June 28-30 at The Bridge, a natural amphitheatre near Three Forks. He’ll perform at 10 p.m. Saturday.
In the last 20-plus years, Diffie has shown a master hand at everything from heart-tugging ballads to rocking, sidesplitting country corkers. With over 30 tunes in the Top 40, including five number-one songs, Diffie’s performance will be smash-laden with some of country’s greatest hits, including “John Deere Green,” “Pickup Man,” “Third Rock From the Sun” and “Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox (If I Die).”

Montana Folk Festival announces final line-up of musicians
The organizers of the Montana Folk Festival recently announced 11 additions to the previously released list of performers for the Montana Folk Festival, July 13-15 in Butte. This completes the line-up for the festival’s six music performance stages. Jazz greats headline Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival
Renowned bebop clarinetist Buddy DeFranco lends his name to the University of Montana’s prestigious Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival, although – due to health concerns – he’ll miss this year’s event. The festival features evening concerts by jazz saxophonist Bob Sheppard and drummer Ignacio Berroa at 7:30 p.m. April 27-28 at the University Theatre in Missoula. Read more

Stellarondo: On the road to the Ryman
Writer Rick Bass and the art-folk band Stellarondo offer three performances of songs and scored stories – what Bass calls “the perfect marriage of literature and music” – around the region this month. Their hometown performance in Missoula on April 11 kicked off the ensemble’s journey toward playing a full show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in 2013, and a documentary is also in the works. Actor and musician Dennis Quaid and the Sharks headline ZooMontana’s inaugural WinterFest, 7 p.m. April 28 at the Babcock Theater in Billings.
