Elvis impersonator tours Montana with Christmas show
After very successful concerts last year in Montana and Idaho, Elvis impersonator Ryan Pelton and his six-piece band, The Difference, return with a Christmas show, which opened Nov. 26 in Butte and travels to six other Montana towns. Pelton is widely regarded as one of the world’s best Elvis tribute artists. He’s evoked The King all over the United States and on four continents. Read more
Irish Christmas in America comes to Butte, Missoula and Bozeman
The Friends of Irish Studies at the University of Montana are bringing an Irish Christmas in America to three Montana towns. The tour features the acclaimed duo Lumiere, comprised of Eilis Kennedy and Pauline Scanlon; Seamus Begley from West Kerry, a legendary singer, accordionist and raconteur; and ferocious fiddler Oisin Mac Diarmada of the award-winning Irish group Téada. Go Katie, Go: Goodman takes comedy show to NYC
Broad Comedy is back with an all-new show, 8 p.m. Nov. 17-19 at the Emerson Center – and literally “back,” as writer-directors Katie Goodman and Soren Kisiel are in New York for the year on tour. It’s been a busy fall for Goodman, who performed in Bozeman and Los Angeles, before debuted her solo show of musical satire and mayhem at the Triad Theatre in New York City, Oct. 14, where she’ll be performing monthly. Leon Russell: Rock ’n roll Renaissance man appears in Missoula and Billing
Leon Russell, described as a rock-and-roll Renaissance man, comes to Missoula Oct. 26 and Billings Oct. 27. There is little that this Oklahoma-bred singer-pianist hasn’t done. His quixotic half-century in music stretches from his teen years in Oklahoma in the late ’50s to his best-selling collaboration with Elton John from 2010, The Union. Read more
Writers and readers convene for Montana Festival of the Book
The 12th annual Humanities Montana Festival of the Book celebrates the literature of the West Oct. 6-8 in downtown Missoula. More than 75 authors participate in readings, panels, exhibits, demonstrations, signings, workshops, receptions and other special events. Highlights include readings by Thomas McGuane, Bonnie Jo Campbell, Sheryl Noethe and Mary Clearman Blew. Read more
Cirque Mechanics brings “Boom Town” to the Treasure State
Cirque Mechanics visits Butte, Hamilton and Billings in October with “Boom Town,” a production that’s sure to strike a rich vein in the Treasure State. “Boom Town” transports the audience to the small frontier town of Rosebud in the 1860s, where two ambitious saloon owners have set up shop in the hopes of cashing in on the town’s gold-rush frenzy.
