“Doubt” – “a mystery without a solution” – tours Montana and beyond
Montana Repertory Theatre's national tour of John Patrick Shanley’s “Doubt, A Parable,” continues Jan. 31-Feb. 4 at the University of Montana's Montana Theatre in the PAR/TV Center. The play, which won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for drama, will also be performed in Lewistown, Feb. 8; Bozeman, Feb. 9; Butte, Feb. 10; and Billings, Feb. 11, before traveling around the country.
Charismatic young Father Flynn (played masterfully by Brendan Shanahan) begins a sermon by asking, “What do you do when you’re not sure?” Audiences soon learn that little is certain in Shanley’s brilliant, aptly titled play. Although set in 1964, "Doubt" is as timely as tomorrow’s newspaper headlines.“This mystery without a solution … leaves audiences exhilarated,” writes The New York Times.

Whitefish Theatre Co. presents “Poor Again … Dagnabbit!”
Spokane actor Tim Behrens brings “Poor Again … Dagnabbit!,” a one-man stage show by humorist Patrick McManus, to the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21. McManus, a nationally renowned humor writer has done it again – he’s become poor, and written a new play about it for his even poorer and indentured actor to perform and tour. Read more

Broadway stars shine in The Big Band Broadcast
The Big Band Broadcast, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Mansfield Theater in Great Falls, launches the Dorothy Monagin Music Endowment, which will provide Montana students with scholarships to attend the International Music Camp. The night of music, song and dance includes Australia's Jeremy Powell. Broadway’s Ian Knauer, London's Shannon Hudson and the New Harold Nicholls Big Band. Read more

ATP stages “Yuletide Affair” with maternity in the wings
With maternity coming early for Alpine Theatre Project's “Yuletide Affair 8: Maternity Edition,” ATP Artistic Director Betsi Morrison has enlisted the help of a few Broadway friends to deliver the popular holiday concert in style. Andy Meyers is new artistic director at Fort Peck
Andy Meyers, who was an actor, choreographer and director last season at Fort Peck Summer Theatre, returns in 2012 as artistic director. “What I love about doing theatre in Fort Peck is how we get to bring the arts and, in particular, live theatre to so many people who would get no other exposure,” he says. Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” creeps into Missoula
Missoula Community Theatre opens its season Oct. 21 with “Dracula.” Based on the 1897 novel by Bram Stoker and adapted to the stage by Hamilton Deane in 1924, this well-known vampire story is set in Victorian-era England. This isn’t ‘True Blood’ or ‘Twilight,’ it’s the original story that put vampires into the public mind,” says director TJ Charlson. Read more
