Actors offer a staged reading of “John and Jen”

Missoula actress Alicia Bullock-Muth joins New York actor and Missoula native Andy Meyers in a staged reading of “John and Jen,” April 25-26 at Lake Missoula Cellars.

The hit Off-Broadway musical, first performed in 1995 and written by Andrew Lippa and Tom Greenwald, examines sibling and family relationships, and spans decades in its intimate, often comical and emotional storytelling.

Bullock-Muth has been voted Best Musical Theatre Actress of the ’80s and ’90s in The Missoulian, and 2005 Best Actress in The Missoula Independent, for playing such roles as Ms. Johnstone in “Blood Brothers,” Marian in “The Music Man” and the title roles in “Peter Pan” and “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.” She is a music teacher, choral conductor and private voice teacher, often acting as guest conductor and vocal clinician across the state.

Meyers, who is originally from Missoula, played Bert Healy in the National Tour of “Annie” and Dick in the 35th anniversary revival of “Dames at Sea.” Most recently in Missoula, he played Huck Finn in MCT Community Theatre’s production of “Big River.”

Bullock-Muth and Meyers first played siblings in MCT’s 1989 production of “The Music Man.”

“John and Jen” features staging by Stacey Gordon and musical supervision by Lizzie Webb, who will also lead the orchestra, featuring Dawn Douglass on cello and Evan Goldhahn on percussion.

The wine bar at Lake Missoula Cellars will open at 6:30 pm, with the performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 at the door.
