The Bigfork Playhouse season includes "Sugar Babies," a lively tribute to burlesque.

The Bigfork Summer Playhouse celebrated a half-century of professional summer theatre in 2009 with a new façade and elegant expansion to its lobby.

The menu for its 51st season includes “Sugar Babies,” a riotously funny, nostalgic trip for those who remember burlesque, and a happy discovery for those too young to recall this irreverent form of American entertainment; “Fiddler on the Roof,” the poignant, humorous story of Tevye and the community of Anatevka, where “Tradition!” matters; “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” a comedy about two conmen, living on the French Riviera, who try to extract $50,000 from the local heiress; and “All Shook Up,” the story of a girl’s surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger, who helps a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock ’n roll (the show features 24 classic Elvis Presley songs).

Andy Meyers directs the perennially popular Benefit Revue, an evening of song and dance “from shows we’d like to do, from shows we’ve done in the past and from shows we promise we’ll never do,” on July 25. All proceeds go to the Bigfork Summer Playhouse Scholarship fund.

The season wraps up with “Tom Foolery,” Aug. 26-Sept. 4.  This celebration of the genius of Tom Lehrer features 28 of his greatest songs and a linking narrative as the humorist attacks America's “sacred cows.”

Show times are 8 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. selected Sundays. Tickets are $15-$26; call 837-4886 or visit www.bigforksummerplayhouse.com.
