Bush makes only Montana stop in Billings
Published: August 1, 2011
Bush, the British alternative rock band that forged the sound of what would come to characterize an entire decade, make its only Montana stop, 8 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Babcock Theatre in Billings.
The tour marks the release of Sea of Memories, the Londoners’ first album since the band reunited in 2010. One of the most commercially successful alternative rock bands of the 1990s, Bush released the six-time platinum Sixteen Stone in 1994. The album spawned two Top 40 hits, “Comedown” and “Glycerine.” Another single, “Everything Zen” also charted at No. 2 on the Billboard Modern Rock Chart, as did “Machine Head.” The band’s sophomore album, Razorblade Suitcase (1996) featured the No. 1 hit “Swallowed” and “Greedy Fly.”
The band’s third album, The Science of Things, departed from the grunge sound, weaving lush electronic sonic sounds with intricate lyrics. “The Chemicals Between Us” spent five weeks atop the Modern Rock Tracks. “Letting the Cables Sleep” also garnered heavy radio play. To date, Bush has sold over 10 million albums in the U.S.
The band took home the American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Group in 1998 and received a Grammy nod that year for “Swallowed” in the Best Hard Rock Performance category.
Bush is led by Gavin Rossdale and includes Robin Goodridge, Chris Traynor and Corey Britz. Rossdale, who is married to No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani, embarked on a solo and acting career during the band’s eight-year hiatus.
Tickets to the Billings show are $27 and may be purchased via phone at 800-514-3849 or online at Tickets300.com. Doors open at 7 p.m. and Dead Sara opens this all-ages performance.
