Dave Matthews: Tickets on sale Feb. 26 for Gorge shows
Published: January 31, 2010
The Dave Matthews Band once again makes its annual three-day Labor Day weekend stop at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA, Sept. 3-5.
The group’s platinum-certified 2009 album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King (RCA), was nominated for two Grammy Awards – Album Of The Year and Best Rock Album – and the band performed at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards Jan. 31.
Hailed by Rolling Stone as “their most electric album yet," Big Whiskey features some of the last studio recordings of founding member/saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who passed away in August 2008.
Renowned for its live performances, DMB was recently named the top-selling touring artist of the decade by Billboard and Pollstar. The Cincinnati Enquirer observed: “Concertgoers were dancing in the rain Tuesday night while the Dave Matthews Band rocked out … Matthews and company are nothing if not great entertainers and their music spans genres from rock to folk to alternative.”
DMB – comprised of Carter Beauford (drums), Stefan Lessard (bass), Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar) and Boyd Tinsley (violin) – has sold a collective 37 million CDs and DVDs combined. With Big Whiskey’s debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in June 2009, Dave Matthews Band became one of only two groups in chart history to have five consecutive studio albums enter atop the chart.
An online ticket request period began Jan. 28 and continues through Feb. 8, at: www.warehouse.davematthewsband.com. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Feb. 26. Go to www.livenation.com for details.
