Fourteen world-class musicians and two string quartets perform some of the finest classical music of Mozart, Brahms, Hayden, Schubert, Debussy and others in Whitefish Aug. 4-9 during Festival Amadeus, presented by the Glacier Symphony and Chorale.
Performers include acclaimed violist Paul Coletti, pianist Robert Wright and lyric soprano Amy Pfrimmer, and the Bridger and Glacier string quartets.
Evening concerts at 8 p.m. in the Whitefish Performing Arts Center are preceded by social activities at the festival tent, open from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6-11 p.m. daily and located one block from the performance hall.
The series begins with a free showing of the film, “Amadeus,” Monday (preceded by a community picnic at 5 p.m.); and continues with the Bridger String Quartet and Glacier String Quartet performing works of Dvorak, Mendelssohn and Mozart on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s “Lyrical Elegance” features works by Beethoven, Clarke, Mozart and Turina; and Thursday’s “Sonic Rhapsody” offers an evening of chamber music.
The two final concerts feature the Festival Amadeus Orchestra and several soloists in works by Hayden and Mozart. In addition, students of North Valley Music School’s summer camp perform a free concert at noon Aug. 8 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are $40-$80 for all concerts (a $120 Super Pass includes catered receptions) or $10-$15 for Tuesdays-Thursdays and $10-$23 for Fridays and Saturdays; call 257-3241 or visit http://www.gscmusic.org for details.
