The Opera House Theatre launches its season with "Having a Wonderful Time, Wish You Were Her."

The Opera House Theatre in Philipsburg kicks off its 2009 season with “Having a Wonderful Time, Wish You Were Her,” 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25. Double standards and midnight rendezvous lead to a hilarious and hectic predicament, augmented by a hungry bear.

Next up is “Butterscotch,” opening at 7 p.m. Friday, June 26. Start with an ailing cantankerous father who loves roadside diners, add a New York food critic (the future son-in-law), blend in an elderly neighbor, a hunting buddy and a sexy condo owner, and season with a side of compassion for a laughable impasse.

The play’s author, Barbara L. Smith, of Connecticut, is taking advantage of the production of one of her plays to make her maiden trip to Montana.

The company opens its “All Vaudeville Extravaganza!” at 2 p.m. July 3. Expect hilarity, hijinks and great music by the 2009 cast. Artistic director Colleen Watson and Lizzie Webb at the piano join Tim Eastman, Suzanne Fortin, Damon Abdallah, Jenn Hogan, Nathan Wright and Ginny Abdallah in another laugh-filled season at the historic theatre.

Show times are 7 p.m. Thursdays, 2 and 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays, through Sept. 6. Admission is $17 adult and $9 for children 12 and under.
