Musicians and artists collaborate in benefit for Haiti

Whitefish Central School Auditorium will become the center of local efforts to provide support and relief to the earthquake-stricken nation of Haiti. Local musicians, artists and businesses are coming together Feb. 28 for an evening of free entertainment and compassion.
Entertainment will be provided by legendary local musicians Rob Quist, John Dunnigan, Andre Floyd, Tim Torgerson, and The Good Wood Trio, as well as nationally known singer/songwriter Annette Strean.
Strean is a Whitefish High School graduate now living in New York City. She spent the last decade recording and touring internationally with her band Venus Hum, as well as with performance artists The Blue Man Group. Her credits include several performances on The Tonight Show and Carson Daly Live.
Vaden Earle, founder and CEO of Absolute Leadership Development Incorporated and a World Vision consultant, will speak about his two recent trips to Haiti since the earthquake. Earle is a best-selling author in Canada and has overseen the development of two orphanages in Port Au Prince.
Additionally, there will be a silent art auction featuring original work created specifically for the event by local artists. During the course of the evening, participants will have an opportunity to donate to World Vision.
“This is an opportunity for our community to come together for some great art and entertainment, and then translate that into something that can tangibly save lives,” said local musician Luke Dowler of Moose Lake Media, the event coordinator. “From a small corner of our great state we can let the Haitian people know that we won’t forget them in their time of need.”
The event begins at 6 p.m. with the open house art auction, and entertainment follows from 7-9 p.m. All proceeds will go directly to World Vision, which has been on the ground in Haiti providing life-saving emergency aid and supplies since the devastating earthquake on Jan. 12.
Artists and businesses interested in donating and/or participating can contact Luke Dowler at 406-270-5649 or email .
