Libby celebrates its ethnic roots Sept. 10-12 with the 26th annual Nordicfest, a celebration of Scandinavian food, music and culture.

Highlights include the International Fjord horse show, the Nordicfest parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, and ample outdoor entertainment daily, featuring yodeler, singer and recording artist Rod Erickson, and many local favorites, including Back Adit, the Treasure Tones, A-Tones, the Alan Lane Band and others.

The Nines perform from 7-11 p.m. Saturday at J. Neils Park Bandstand, where the band will deliver a lively mix of ’60s hip-schlock, mahogany smooth ’70s pop and R&B, “get-down-on-it” funk and disco, ’80s synth pop and ’90s party rock. Tickets are $12-$15.

The festival features displays of fine art, crafts, quilts and hardanger embroidery. Culinary treats include Vikings on a Stick, rosettes and Uffda dogs, and the perennially popular fish boil, a meatball dinner and a Swedish pancake breakfast.

The Memorial Center hosts the inaugural children’s coloring contest, 1-4 p.m. Saturday; festival-goers may also compete in arm wrestling and meatball eating contests.
