The Montana Governor’s Cup Marathon, a USTAF certified course, begins Sept. 20 in the rural community of Molt and finishes in downtown Billings.

The race includes a marathon, half-marathon, and marathon relay for both runners and walkers, as well as a 10k race and kids’ run.

Online registration for the event, which has been designated the Road Runners Club of America Montana State Marathon Championship, closes Sept. 16.

The marathon starts at 7 a.m. Sunday (marathon walkers depart at 5 a.m.) with bus transportation from Daylis Stadium in Billings. The course includes about six rolling hills, none too difficult, with a spectacular drop at about the 12-mile mark.

The half marathon starts on the same course with a mile-long downhill, continues on the marathon course through Yellowstone Country Club, with a slight uphill at mile 19, and then turns on 46th St. to the start of the 10K at Rangeview Park. The course then runs on the city bike trail to Poly Drive, downhill to Colton, to finish on flat Parkhill Drive, downhill on 3rd Ave. into Daylis Stadium for the final 300 meters on the track.

Refreshments and information are available, as well as late packet pick-up, from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 19, at the Hospitality Center at the ClockTower Inn, the host hotel for out-of-town guests (800-628-9081).
