Stringed Instrument Division: A musician’s shop
Published: July 2, 2008
Stringed Instrument Division, located in Missoula, has been hailed as one of the finest luthier shops in all of North America.
It’s a musician's shop: A lover of how strings stretched over a chamber can make beautiful music. A lover of the different tone qualities various blends of wood and metal can make.
"We love what we do, we love dealing with people in the right way, and we believe in taking the extra time to develop lasting relationships with our customers,” says owner and head Luthier Peter Barberio. The shop provides an atmosphere of comfort and first-class service, preserving a combination of traditional ‘Old World’ feel, personal attention and many years of professional experience – all rare commodities in today's high-speed market.
Some of Stringed Instrument’s more famous clients include: Eddy Clearwater, Eddie Vann Shaw (Eddie Shaw & the Wolfgang), Gatemouth Brown, Jeff Ament (Pearl Jam), Russel Jackson (B.B. King), Spencer Bohren, Greg Brown, Al & Emily Cantrell, Los Lobos, Ramblin' Jack Eliott, David Bromberg, David Lindley, Steve Bruton (Kris Kristofferson), New Grass Revival, Merle Watson and Doc Watson.
