’Tis the season for productions of “A Christmas Carol,” as Scrooge grumbles across many a Montana stage.

The Nebraska Theatre Caravan brings Dickens timeless story of Ebenezer and his ghostly visitations to Billings and Butte. The company’s stellar musical production features a lavish set, beautiful costumes and Broadway-spectacle designs.

In Missoula, Montana Actors’ Theatre escorts the audience into an eerie world of choking mists and restless spirits in a production that draws on German Expressionism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and promises to draw “gasps and chuckles from the entire family.”

Montana Theatre Works renders the exploits of Tiny Tim and Scrooge in Bozeman’s revamped Ellen Theatre; and Spokane Civic Theatre brings the story to life in Spokane.
