Two Montana bands to appear on Late Show

Comedian and night-show host David Letterman has invited two Montana music-makers to perform on his nationally televised Late Show.
Tim Montana, a country singer from Butte, will sing a tribute to his hometown, titled “Butte, Montana,” on Oct. 17; and Cold Hard Cash, a Johnny Cash tribute band from Great Falls, takes the Late Show stage Nov. 18.
According to the Associated Press, Montana, whose real name is Tim Pasquinzo, met Letterman during the Independence Day celebration in Choteau. The two traded autographs and an invitation ensued. Comedian Frank Caliendo is also a guest that night.
Also according to the AP, the singer’s parents, Doug and Merri Pasquinzo of Elk Park, and other family members plan to fly to New York City for the show.
Cold Hard Cash, a band fronted by Merle Peterson, also has a date with Letterman. The group also performed at Choteau's Fourth festivities. According to Peterson, "after our performance we heard David was there and he was enjoying our show, but he had left. I didn't hear anything, and I didn't expect to."
But in early September, the band was invited to perform. "It was just good luck,"says Peterson. "We couldn't have made this happen if we tried."
Letterman has owned a 2,700-acre ranch near Choteau since 1999.
Can’t wait!
