The longest running off-Broadway musical, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” launches the Fort Peck Summer Theatre season, held in the charming theatre constructed in 1934.

The musical comedy revue, which continues through June 12, takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as “the relationship,” exploring the trials and tribulations of being single, dating, marriage, loss, heartbreak and all the things we love about romance.

Erika Dooley directs the talented cast, which includes the familiar face John P. Dooley, as well as newcomers to the Fort Peck family: Andy Meyers, Brenna Wagner and Kayla Peabody.

The technical staff and design team are comprised of Fort Peck Summer Theatre veterans; Dan Connors (musical director), Claire Marx (accompanist), Stephen J. Moore (lighting design), Maggie Hall (sound design), Kehler Relick (costume design), John Dooley (scenic design), and Darren Green (props master). New to Fort Peck is stage manager Gabriel Vanover.

This hilarious revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, and those who have dared to ask, “Say, what are you doing Saturday night?” Like all adult relationships, this show contains adult language, humor and situations. “It’s a great show for a fun date night,” says director Dooley. “But it may not be appropriate for the kiddos.”

Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays, and tickets are $5-$20.

The summer season continues with “Hairspray,” June 17-July 3; “Chicago,” July 8-24; “Big River,” July 29-Aug. 14; and “Leading Ladies,” Aug. 19-Sept. 4.
