The Western Rendezvous of Art, Montana’s premier summer art exhibition and sale, celebrates 32 years Aug. 19-22 in Helena.

The rendezvous features art by 47 members of the Northwest Rendezvous Group (NWR) and four invited guests, free seminars and western hospitality.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, with the opening of the Rendezvous Art Show at the Red Lion Colonial Hotel, and conclude on Sunday morning, Aug. 22, with the Farewell Continental Breakfast, Art Pick-Up and Last Chance Art Sale.

The Montana Historical Society hosts a western barbecue Thursday evening, followed by a discussion by Dr. Rafael Chacón, art historian at The University of Montana, about his research on paintings in the historic lodges at Glacier Park.

“An Afternoon with Harley Brown,” on Friday, Aug. 20, offers an opportunity to hear from the nationally renowned NWR artist on his career and influences. That evening, an artist’s reception is followed by the Gala Awards Banquet and keynote presentation, “Sixty Years in the Art Game” by Abe Hays, noted collector and founder of Arizona West Galleries in Scottsdale, AZ.

Saturday brings the popular Quick Draw and Auction at the historic and scenic Sieben Ranch, with the auction scheduled for high noon. The fast-paced, set-price sale of works in the Rendezvous Art Show takes place Saturday evening.
