Western Rendezvous celebrates 30 years
Published: July 1, 2008
The latchstring is out to celebrate the 30th annual Western Rendezvous of Art, which brings members of the Northwest Rendezvous Group and guest artists to Helena Aug. 21-24.
This unique art show and sale is famous for its friendly atmosphere and ample time to meet and visit with the artists. Art lovers from across the world gather to meet the artists up close, watch them create, and purchase top-quality art. Rendezvous artists’ work ranges from plein-air landscapes, to colorful still lifes, to impressionist and traditional Western art subjects.
Festivities begin at the Montana Historical Society on Thursday, Aug. 21, with the new Meet, Greet and Eat, featuring a barbecue and music by the Awesome Polka Babes.
Seminars on Friday, Aug. 22 include “The Art of Collecting” by well-known art collector John Geraghty and “I Don’t Know Anything About Art But I Know What I Like” by artist Jim Daly. Friday evening’s Gala Awards banquet includes the keynote “My Passion For Art” by Tom Tierney, publisher of Art of the West.
The popular Quick Draw and Auction take place on Saturday at the historic Sieben Ranch, followed by the set-price sale of art Saturday evening at the Helena Civic Center. Collectors may peruse the over 200 artworks Thursday-Saturday.
The Western Rendezvous of Art concludes with an informal brunch and “Last Chance” art sale at the Helena Civic Center on Sunday morning. Visit www.westrendart.org or call 406-442-4263.
