Snowmobile enthusiasts from around the United States and Canada converge in West Yellowstone March 11-13 for the 21st annual World Snowmobile Expo, the largest snowmobile event in the West.

Manufacturers unveil their new 2012 snowmobile lines for the first time to the public. Hundreds of new aftermarket exhibits are also on display at the West Yellowstone Holiday Inn, center for the 2011 Expo.

The SnoWest SnoCross attracts racers from across the Snowbelt. The annual event includes other adrenaline-packed racing events, including snow drags, a radar run and kids’ races. During the Toughman Enduro, at 2 p.m. Saturday, three-person teams strive to finish the most laps in a designated time, using the same snowmobile.

Octane Addiction delivers high-flying aerial antics at 7:30 p.m. Saturday ($15); the performance includes Dane Ferguson’s world-record attempt at a 120-foot back-flip. And for motorcycle enthusiasts, Team Swoop showcases spills and thrills, burn-outs, circle wheelies, insane stops and acrobatics using Kawasaki 636 and Honda F4i bikes, at 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Western States Vintage Snowmobile Association offers displays and demos at the racetrack, located at the Old Airport. A swap meet and casino night are also on tap. Tours of Yellowstone Park by snowmobile and snowcoach are also available.

Musical offerings include performances by the Dirty Shame Band on Friday and Saturday, and Kennedy and the Assassins and Hellbound Glory on Saturday.
