Yellowstone Art Museum gears up for art auction
Published: January 26, 2010
Art Auction 42, the Yellowstone Art Museum’s annual auction exhibit, culminates in the “Hollywood Extravaganza,” 5:30-11 p.m. March 6.
Until then, view an eclectic mix of styles, from cutting-edge contemporary to traditional landscapes and western art, by some of the region's most prominent artists at the museum in Billings (or download the catalogue from the website, www.artmuseum.org). Paintings, sculpture, ceramics, furniture, and jewelry are all part of the mix.
On March 6, the “Hollywood Extravaganza” benefit kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and a dinner buffet catered by Beyond Basil. Quick Draw artists create works on the spot, which will be available for bidding.
The live auction at 7 p.m. boasts a lively selection of works by a roster of well-known artists, including Ted Waddell, Sandra Dal Poggetto, Larry Pirnie, Tom Foolery, Jerry Cornelia, Gordon McConnell, Jane Waggoner Deschner, and many others.
The annual auction is a premier showcase of regional art that draws collectors from across the country and helps launch emerging artists’ careers.
All of the proceeds from Art Auction 42 help fund the museum’s exhibitions and education programs.
Tickets are $89; visit www.artmuseum.org or call 406-256-6804 for more information.
